I research in the areas of the Short Story, cultural and social intersections and contemporary Australian publishing in both Creative Writing and Australian literature. I have been for many years a freelance author and editor of numerous publications including 'Wet ink' - the magazine of new writing (2005-2012).
My most recent book was 'Tilting at Windmills'- the literary magazine in Australia 1968-2012 (University of Adelaide Press) 2015. Creative works have included a novella and two collections of short stories.

I research in the areas of the short story, publishing in Australia, and the intersections between the social/ political and 'literature' within the Department of English & Creative Writing. My most recent major publication has been a history of 'little' magazines in Australia- 'Tilting at Windmills-the literary magazine in Australia 1968-2012 (University of Adelaide Press) 2015. I am well known as the author of many published short stories, and as the co-editor of 'Wetink'- the magazine of new writing (2005-2012). In other words, my research broadly relates to the issue of how creative writing in the academy can have a relationship with the community.
