After completing my French major at the University of Adelaide, I undertook a PhD in French literature at the University of Provence, France. My thesis was concerned with phenomenological theories of reading and their narratological extensions. On returning to Australia, I did a three-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Sydney, which led to the publication of my monograph "Ethique et littérature". I have been lecturer in French Studies at the University of Adelaide since 1995.
Research interests include 20th Century French novel and poetry; 20th Century French poststructuralism and cultural theory; psychoanalysis; caribbean literature, contemporary poetry.
Authors studied: Jean Giono, Claude Simon, Michel Leiris, Georges Bataille, Samuel Beckett, Marguerite Duras, Colette, Marcel Proust, Edouard Glissant, Jacques Dupin, Christian Prigent.
