My research lies in where bioethics and political philosophy intersect. I am especially interested in ethical and philosophical issues raised by human enhancement technology. While most of my publications are about moral bioenhancement (i.e. using biomedical means for the purpose of improving morality), I am also interested in philosophical and ethical issues related to treating morally relevant psychiatric conditions.
My research lies primarily at the intersection of bioethics and political philosophy. I am especially interested in the ethical and philosophical issues raised by human enhancement technologies. While most of my publications focus on moral bioenhancement (i.e., using biomedical means to improve morality), I am also interested in ethical and philosophical issues related to treating morally relevant psychiatric conditions, as well as the ethics of using medical AI developed with machine learning techniques. In 2026, I will take up the Brocher Foundation’s Research Residency to work on my medical AI research project from early March to late April.
