Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
I am an enthusiastic PhD candidate in the School of Medicine at the University of Adelaide, based at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. My doctoral research examines the effects of hormonal interventions on the quality of life of adolescents with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), aiming to generate evidence that can inform clinical practice and improve adolescent health outcomes.
I hold a Master of Philosophy in Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from leading public universities in Sri Lanka. My research interests encompass adolescent health, women’s health, endocrinology disease prevention, and quality-of-life assessment.
My academic journey reflects a strong track record in women’s health research, supported by extensive expertise in clinical and translational studies within adolescent sexual and reproductive health. This is evidenced by my contributions to peer-reviewed Q1 publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
With a multidisciplinary background and a commitment to advancing health equity, I aspire to make a lasting impact on reproductive health outcomes, particularly among marginalized communities, by bridging evidence, practice, and policy.
My research journey has been driven by a strong commitment to improving adolescent reproductive health, with a particular focus on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic health, and quality of life outcomes. I hold a Master of Philosophy in Health Sciences from the University of Peradeniya and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide, based in the School of Medicine, where I am examining the effects of hormonal interventions on the quality of life of adolescents with PCOS. My research interests span adolescent health, reproductive and sexual health, endocrinology diseases, non-communicable diseases, obesity and physical activity. I aim to contribute to evidence-based interventions that strengthen adolescent reproductive healthcare, particularly among underserved populations. Through my work, I aspire to bridge the gap between clinical treatment and the lived experiences of young women navigating chronic reproductive health conditions.
