Nigussie is a PhD candidate in Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He is interested in pharmacogenomics, mental health epidemiology, clinical psychology, and precision medicine with advanced analysis like machine learning. He graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing from Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Nigussie has made significant contributions to health and medical science over many years. He has an h-index of 15 on Scopus and 18 on Google Scholar, averaging 34.2 citations per publication (SciVal).
