My research focuses on the modes of accumulation of large animal remains in caves, with a particular focus on fossil sites within the Naracoorte Caves region. There are two primary modes of large animal accumulation in this region - animals falling into caves, resulting in pitfall trap deposits, and animal remains being deposited in caves by predators, resulting in carnivore accumulations. I am comparing certain features of these deposits, such as the species composition and taphonomy. This research will improve the understanding of biases in Quaternary cave fossil assemblages throughout Australia.
