Since completing my formal studies in 2013, I have dedicated my career to supporting both adult and paediatric populations in various settings, including private practice, rehabilitation/aged care, and community health. I have had the privilege of working in multidisciplinary teams, addressing all areas of speech pathology. Recently, my focus has been on diagnostics, particularly autism, ADHD, and FASD.
From 2017, I have enjoyed supervising speech pathology students from Flinders University, mentoring over 60 students across a range of placements over five years. This included establishing a dedicated student clinic at Adelaide Paediatrics, where I oversaw a variety of student rosters, totaling more than 70 students. From 2024 this now includes speech pathology students from UniSA.
In 2020, I stepped into a clinical lead role at Adelaide Paediatrics, which involves the supervision and support of a team of 19 speech pathologists. My role involves developing resources, monitoring practice guidelines, and reviewing clinical practices to ensure we continue to adhere to evidence-based standards. Additionally, I co-lead the autism diagnostics team, working closely with our clinical lead psychologist to ensure our services followed the Autism CRC National Guidelines. I also had the opportunity to train new diagnosticians through the Autism SA certification program.
Supporting junior clinicians, students, and speech pathologists at all stages of their careers has been a central focus of my work. Since November 2022, I have been involved with UniSA, taking on lecturing opportunities and recently serving as the course coordinator for HLTH 3091. I am passionate about bringing my clinical experience into the academic setting and supporting the next generation of speech pathologists.
I am always keen to share insights and collaborate, particularly on topics related to autism, and neurodiverse affirming practice.
