My current research is focussed on using natural fracture networks to predict subsurface fluid flow in Australia’s petroleum producing basins. This research aims to better constrain the origin, nature, and hydraulic conductivity of natural fracture networks, and to understand their relationship to crustal stresses. I combine detailed structural mapping together with petrophysics, seismic data, and geomechanical analyses to understand naturally fractured reservoirs in sedimentary basins that have undergone inversion, e.g. the Otway Basin in Australia and the Bristol Channel Basin in the United Kingdom. I have previously worked on the depositional controls of organic-rich rocks in unconventional reservoirs.
