Nasir Iqbal has done his master at Sichuan Agricultural University, China and currently he is doing Ph.D in Agriculture at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Ph D project is to quantify the intra-specific variation of nitrogen fixation of chickpea in response to drought. He is eager to learn about plant photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence, biological nitrogen fixation and biochemical changes in legumes under abiotic stress.
Chickpea is an important source of protein in human diets, an agronomically important component of crop rotations, and a biologically interesting model plant. In common to all legumes, adaptation to stress in chickpea partially depends on the effects of stress on nitrogen fixation. The broad aim of my PhD project is to quantify the intra-specific variation of nitrogen fixation of chickpea in response to drought.
