Being born in Malaysia, Shazwan obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with Honours from the University Technology of Petronas in 2022. He then joined Petronas Research Sdn. Bhd. as a research assistant in the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) department. During this period, his work focused on the improvement of mechanical strength of a metal-based catalyst pellet in addition to the selection of ideal condition for a membrane-based carbon dioxide separation process. In late 2023, he started his PhD with the Sumby-Doonan group at the University of Adelaide, supported by the Petronas Education Sponsorship Program 2 (PESP2) award. His research currently centers on the synthesis of new electrode material for Direct Air Capture (DAC) process via electrochemical method.
