Asim Imran holds a PhD in Media from the University of Adelaide. His PhD focuses on media discourses used in the portrayal of the elderly and age-related issues in mainstream newspapers in Australia and Malaysia. He was awarded Beacon of Enlightenment PhD Scholarship. He holds an MA in Mass Communication (Distinction) from the University of Bedfordshire, UK. He is interested in researching the role of journalists, journalistic practices, ownership and social practices in constructing identities for different components of society. Asim Imran had worked in various academic and non-academic roles in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Currently, he works as an academic tutor for MDIA 2301: Media Policy Media Law at the University of Adelaide.
