College of Science

I am a PhD student in the Food and Nutritional Science department of the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine. My primary supervisor is Dr. Hayriye Bozkurt Cekmer. I am co-supervised by Dr. Helen Morris and Dr. Cristian Varela from the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine.My PhD research topic is broadly developing novel probiotic dairy products and risk assessment. This research will also investigate the microbial diversity of raw buffalo milk. I am also interested in isolating probiotic lactic acid bacteria from raw buffalo milk.I have obtained Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at undergraduate level and Master of Science (MS) degree in Dairy Science at postgraduate level securing CGPA 3.97 and 4.00, respectively. I was awarded Prime Ministers Gold Medal by the Government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh for securing the highest CGPA at the undergraduate level. My master’s thesis title was “Searching Probiotic bifidobacteria from traditional buffalo milk curd as an emerging safeguard of human health”. After completing Masters degree, I joined the department of Dairy and Poultry Science in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), one of the leading public universities in agricultural education and research in Bangladesh as a faculty member. Teaching and research in the field of dairy science is my major job responsibility. Since I am very much passionate to research, this doctorate position opened the opportunity to be involved in research. I have been carried out research on animal-derived foods. I have published some research articles in peer-reviewed journals and some abstracts in different conference proceedings. I strongly believe the work ethic and fully motivated to succeed within a competitive research field. I am keen to learning and excelling at new technologies as needed.
