College of Health
Dr Mohammed Assen Seid is a grant-funded Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at Adelaide University. His current research applies AI-driven drug discovery and molecular modelling, supported by high-performance computing on NCI’s Gadi supercomputer, to identify and develop novel small-molecule inhibitors and targeted protein degraders for cancer therapy.
He earned his PhD in Medical Science (Anticancer Drug Discovery) from the University of South Australia under the supervision of Professor Shudong Wang, where his doctoral research focused on the design and synthesis of novel small-molecule kinase inhibitors and targeted protein degraders as potential anticancer agents.
Prior to commencing his PhD, Dr Seid held academic appointments at the University of Gondar in Ethiopia, serving as a Lecturer and later as an Assistant Professor. In these roles, he taught coursework in pharmaceutical sciences, supervised postgraduate research projects, and conducted studies spanning medication safety, chronic disease management, and antimicrobial resistance.
Design and development of novel small-molecule inhibitors and targeted protein degraders for cancer therapy using AI-driven molecular modelling and high-performance computing (HPC).
