Dr. Mohammad Boshir Ahmed is a Future Making Fellow at Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER) and Department of Chemical Engineering at The University of Adelaide; who has diverse expertise from different engineering disciplines (e.g., Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering). Dr. Boshir uses natural phenomena to understand the subject matter and to develop new material. Dr. Boshir has worked extensively in a variety of sustainable research themes based on natural biomaterials including hydrogel fiber development for seed germination, biomass processing, biomaterials processing, and biopolymeric materials processing to develop valuable products.

Dr. Boshir's current interests at ISER and Chemical Engineering Department include the development of natural polymers-based biodegradable electronic hydrogel materials (e.g., hydrogel fiber) and carbon fiber-based composite materials for agriculture, energy, and environmental applications. His primary focus will be on understanding plant behavior through disease detection, pesticide delivery, plant sensitivity monitoring, and boosting plant growth (i.e., plant bioelectronics) through developing new techniques and new materials.
