As an architect and interdisciplinary researcher, Mohamed combines professional and academic expertise to explore how artificial intelligence can reframe the understanding and stewardship of built heritage. He is an active contributor to several working groups and scientific committees within ICOMOS, where he engages with international initiatives on heritage preservation and innovation.Mohamed holds a Master’s degree in World Heritage Studies from Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, as well as an ICCROM-supported Master’s in Heritage Management from the University of Sharjah, UAE. He also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Heritage Strategies at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Helwan University in Egypt.

Under the supervision of A/Prof. Scott Hawken and Prof. Erik Champion. My research, “Data to Action: Developing Human-Centered AI Tools for Climate-Responsive Urban Heritage Management,” investigates the intersection of artificial intelligence, cultural heritage, and climate resilience. The project aims to design innovative, human-centered digital tools that can support sustainable approaches to urban heritage management in the face of climate challenges.

I have been fortunate to receive scholarships and travel support that have enabled me to pursue my studies and academic activities. These include the University of Adelaide Research Scholarship (2025) and the ICCROM/Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qassimi Scholarship for Arab Students (2022), which supported my postgraduate education. In addition, I have received travel grants from respected institutions such as Honor Frost Foundation(UK), Waseda University (Japan), the Käte Hamburger Research Centre “global dis:connect” (Germany), Aix-Marseille Université and CNRS (France/Malta), and others. These opportunities have allowed me to share my research, learn from peers, and build international academic connections.

I have gained teaching experience in different academic settings, mainly supporting students in architecture, heritage, and digital heritage. At the American University in Cairo (2024–2025), I worked as a Teaching Assistant for dissertation courses and completed the Teaching Assistants Professional Development (TAPD) Certificate. Earlier, at the University of Sharjah (2022–2023), I assisted with courses in architectural history and theory and helped create student activities such as Sharjah Architecture PechaKucha Nights. Since 2021, I have also taught introductory courses on Digital Heritage as a Visiting Teaching Fellow at the Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In addition, I supported architectural history and design classes at the Higher Institute of Engineering, Al Shorouk Academy, Cairo. These roles have allowed me to guide students, contribute to course delivery, and develop a practical understanding of academic teaching.
