Dr Miriam van den Berg is a research fellow at the Stretton Health Equity, which is part of the Stretton Institute in the School of Social Sciences. Her research interests encompass work and employment as a social determinant of health and health equity. She has a particular interest in precarious employment conditions including informal labour and platform work, and its implications for worker health and wellbeing. Miriam's other research interests include housing, food systems, disability and aging. She has also worked as a public health consultant for over 15 years, working on a range of research, evaluation, policy and advocacy projects for many government and non-government organisations in Tasmania, as well as the World Health Organisation. Miriam has previously worked for Flinders University and the University of Tasmania.
