I have over 22 years of practice experience in Social Work and Youth Work across both non-government and government organisations. I have most recently worked as a mental health social worker for SA Health across multiple adult mental health units within NALHN. My area of passion is practice in the area of tertiary mental health, and in particular, working with individuals who have experienced enduring mental health challenges, and who are subject to involuntary mental health treatment. My love of teaching commenced in 2011, and this has led to me to my current role as a Social Work Lecturer within the school of Social Work and Social Care. I have a special interest in working with students to support them in developing knowledge and skills required to support effective, analytical, compassionate, and purposeful social work practice within multidisciplinary mental health systems. My current PhD study involves the analysis of discourses that have emerged in Australia wide mental health tribunal manuscripts; produced when individuals have appealed the community treatment orders that they have been subject to. My previous research has focussed on examining gendered and culturally based narratives that have intersected with experiences of disordered eating.
