Michael Liebelt

Michael Liebelt was appointed as a lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Adelaide in 1989. He was the Head of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from 2001 until 2010 and was the Deputy Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Computer and Mathematical Sciences from July 2010 until May 2016. He held the position of Interim Executive Dean, Faculty of Sciences between September 2017 and October 2018. He was Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Operations) and Dean of Graduate Studies from November 2017 until his retirement from the University at the end of 2021.
Michael has wide experience as a member of academic boards and boards of directors of several education providers, research commercialization ventures and private companies.
His research interests are in computer architecture, particularly asynchronous digital systems and parallel architectures for the implementation of artificial general intelligence.
He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery.
