Dr Mehdi Amirkhani is a Senior Lecturer at Adelaide University, specialising in sustainable building performance and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). He brings experience from five Australian universities and a background as an architect and Accredited Home Energy Efficiency Assessor who has contributed to over 120 projects, bridging theory with practice. His expertise spans net-zero energy housing, advanced building performance simulation, and residential retrofitting to optimise occupant health and energy efficiency. Mehdi’s PhD introduced an innovative office lighting design strategy that enhanced visual comfort while lowering energy use. As an academic leader, he drives curriculum innovation and mentors teaching teams, boosting student satisfaction and aligning programs with industry needs. He co-directs the Zero Energy Mass Custom Home (ZEMCH) Network Australia and actively collaborates with prefabAUS to advance MMC in South Australia. Mehdi has also delivered guest lectures internationally and served as a judge for national building design awards, reflecting his strong industry engagement alongside academic and leadership excellence.
