Max Moldovan, PhD is an applied statistician/data scientist working in the fields of methodological research and data analysis in life sciences. Max obtained his PhD in statistics from the University of Melbourne in 2008, followed by the postdoctoral training in the Walter and Eliza Hall Research Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). Over his career, Max led and contributed to various research projects with a major tangible impact nationally and internationally. Since 2014 and before joining the Biometry Hub in July 2021, Max was employed firstly as a Lead Bioinformatician and later as a Senior Data Scientist by the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), where he was a recipient of the Research Translation Award and High-impact Publication Award, in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

For the current research and methodological interests, Max is particularly interested in exact, unbiased and efficient inference, including causal inference, from observational and routinely collected datasets, related statistical learning methods and generalised additive modelling approaches.
