I am currently developing a cross-disciplinary Ph.D. project broadly looking into human behaviour change for environmental conservation outcomes. Specifically, I am researching how we can use social marketing tools and strategies to change people's purchasing behaviour and increase consumer demand for environmentally-sound sustainably-grown coffee. However, sustainable coffee is simply a case-study, I feel there is massive potential for this type of work to drastically change how people perceive and act towards the nature that we all need.
I work within the Centre for Applied Conservation Science, a collaboration and philanthropic partnership between Conservation International and the University of Adelaide in South Australia. I also work with the Unmanned Research Aircraft Facility as a licensed pilot for unmanned aircraft (aka drones). Bringing together aspects of applied ecology, sustainable development, social sciences, community engagement, and education, my overall desire is to help reconcile environmental conservation and social development. So, if you're into any of that I'm always happy to chat.
I also currently take on the following key appointments:
- Learning Facilitator, Torrens University Australia
- Publicity Officer, Biology Society of South Australia
- Committee member, Australian Science Communicators of South Australia
