Dr Mark Catley

Senior Lecturer, Physiotherapy

School of Allied Health and Human Performance

College of Health

Mark is a lecturer and researcher has coordinated the Pain Sciences curricula in the Allied Health & Human Performance unit at UniSA since 2013. He teaches into the Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Human Movement and Clinical Exercise Physiology programs and directs the postgraduate Professional Certificate in Pain Sciences that trains clincians to be pain educators.

Mark is a member of the Innovation, Implementation & Clinical Translation (IIMPACT in Health). With a background in physiotherapy and education, his research has a clinical focus in four main areas: (1) the role of therapeutic pain sciences education (i.e. Explain Pain) in the management of people with pain, (2) the investigation of pain-related sensorimotor impairments in people with persistent pain, (3) the psychometric evaluation of clinical assessment and screening tools, and (4) clinician training in pain . Mark's work has been presented in peer-reviewed journals and conference abstracts and he has been both keynote and invited speaker at national and international conferences. He has also contributed book chapters on the topics of pain assessment, pain management and pain sciences education.

Mark currently serves on Scientific Committee of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and reviews manuscripts for pain- and physiotherapy-related journals.
