Maria Yelland is an MPhil researcher with the College of Health, School of Medicine at Adelaide University. She is affiliated with SAHMRI Women and Kids, and the CRE in Human Milk for Preterm Infants. Her research focuses on improving breastfeeding experiences and outcomes for preterm infants and their mothers in neonatal unit settings.
Maria’s work explores how parents of preterm infants experience breastfeeding and lactation support in neonatal units, and how healthcare professionals experience providing that support. Drawing on her clinical background in midwifery, she is particularly interested in bridging the gap between research and clinical practice to optimise maternal and infant health outcomes.
