PhD Project: Nutrient-sensing mechanisms involved in the secretion of gastric ghrelin in health and obesity.
I am a graduate in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as in Food Science and Technology. Throughout the period of my undergraduate studies I had the opportunity of doing internships and jobs under diverse roles. For instance, I worked within a Nutritional Biochemistry research team that focused on development of new foods for prevention and treatment of childhood overweight and obesity. On the other hand, I also worked in a healthcare centre as a Dietitian.
In 2013, I started my postgraduate studies at Aarhus University, Denmark. Where I joined the Molecular Biology and Genetics department to study the potential health benefits of a particular milk protein. After finishing my master's degree, I moved to Australia to continue my studies.
Currently, I am a PhD student in Medicine at the Adelaide University. The focus of my project is to investigate the involvement of nutrient-sensing mechanisms for the control of gastric ghrelin secretion. Moreover, the project also aims to investigate such mechanisms under different conditions, like obesity or gastrointestinal diseases.
