Maram El Sabri is a PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide, and completed her Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Radiation Therapy) with first-class honours at the University of South Australia. Her doctoral research focuses on advancing treatment outcomes for glioblastoma patients by exploring the integration of Targeted Alpha Therapy with conventional therapeutic approaches, contributing to a growing body of work with the aim of improving care for patients with this difficult-to-treat cancer.
Maram's PhD research focuses on developing novel treatment strategies for glioblastoma, one of Australia's most aggressive brain cancers, with a five-year survival rate of less than 5%. Specifically, her work investigates Targeted Alpha Therapy (TAT) delivered via convection-enhanced delivery, using advanced Monte Carlo computer simulations (TOPAS) to model how effectively TAT destroys glioblastoma cells and whether combining it with conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy produces better outcomes. Her research aims to provide the radiobiological evidence base needed to move TAT toward clinical trials, offering patients a more effective treatment for this devastating disease.
