Dr Lisa Bailey has extensive experience working as a science communicator in cultural institutions both in South Australia and the UK, creating and curating varied science engagement programs of online content, events, film festivals and exhibitions.  
Lisa graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry, before switching to a career in science communication.  She has worked at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, The Royal Institution of Australia as Program Manager, and is now the Director at MOD. at The University of South Australia.  She also has lectured in Science Communication at Flinders University.  Lisa was  President of the Australian Science Communicators, the national forum for science communicators and science journalists in Australia from 2018-2021.

It's complicated (No. Of Pieces: IT’S COMPLICATED was a curated exhibition at MOD featuring 13 exhibits relating to dynamic interconnectedness and complex systems. Visitors were greeted by a set of parachuting cats to exploring case studies of malaria control continuing through games, artworks and interactives across 11 gallery spaces spanning topics such as the ocean, industry innovation, cancer treatment and music and visual arts.The exhibits included 'Operation Cat Drop' and 'Gene Drives' showing approaches to malaria control; 'Feeding Frenzy', a floor based interactive on self-organisation of schooling fish; 'Chaos Machine' demonstrating the importance of starting conditions in a double pendulum interactive; 'Octopus Estate' touchscreen game and app where visitors made decisions to help octopus populations thrive and 'Crazy Little Thing Called BRUV' with footage of marine ecologies of South Australia; 'Seahabilitation' looking at human and ecological approaches to increasing biodiversity including daily oyster feeding; 'Custom-Made' a robotic demonstration of Industry 4.0 principles, 'Pneumatic Blooms' on feedback through squishy robot plants, 'Cave of Sounds' an 8-pronged musical instrument for emergence curated by Tim Murray-Browne (UK), 'Grids, Dots and Codes' artworks exploring maths and textiles by Kate Little (Aus), 'Cell Invaders' showcasing research into car t-cell therapies for cancer; and 'Always Was, Always Will Be' a short story by Karen Wyld (Aus) inspired by Afrofutures.Each exhibit explored the principles of complex systems, communicating scientific research through novel interactive experiences. The curatorial strategy and key research contribution revolved around a series of guiding systems theory principles with corresponding icons, each of which were positioned in the galleries alongside QR codes leading to further information and links on an exhibit’s content, as well as being explored in a series of lunchtime researcher panels.)
