Mr Leta Geleta

Leta is a PhD student at Adelaide University under the supervision of Associate Professor Beben Benyamin. His research focuses on the role of endogenous retroviruses in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular emphasis on investigating the effects of HERV expression and methylation in Motor Neuron Disease. Using transcriptomic and epigenomic data analyses, his work aims to address important questions surrounding the molecular mechanisms underlying disease development and progression.
Leta holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, both obtained in Ethiopia. Prior to commencing his PhD, he worked as a lecturer and researcher at Salale University, Ethiopia.
