Dr. Lemma Bulto is a researcher in the School of Public Health, within the Health Evidence Synthesis, Recommendations, and Impact (HESRI) Unit. He completed his PhD at the University of Adelaide, where he received the Doctoral Research Medal and the Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence. He then undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at Flinders University, where he was recognised with the Vice-President and Executive Dean Award (2023) and the Vice-Chancellor’s Early Career Researcher Award (2024).
 
Dr. Bulto’s research centres on evidence-based cardiovascular disease prevention, with a focus on developing and evaluating innovative prevention strategies and models of care. His interests also include evidence informed healthcare, intervention reviews, the GRADE approach to assessing certainty of evidence, and guideline development methodology. His work has informed health policy and practice, including contributions to WHO guidelines.
 
With extensive expertise in evidence synthesis and a commitment to evidence-based healthcare, Dr. Bulto joined the HESRI unit to work on Australian Motor Neuron Disease (ALS/MND) guideline development project. He is a member of the Adelaide GRADE Centre, a certified Guideline Panel Member (McMaster University, Canada), and since 2023 has served on the South Australia Cardiovascular Research Network (SA CVRN) Rising Stars Working Group.
