My MPhil project is entitled 'Exploring Literary Responses to Far-right Populism in Contemporary France'. In this project, I compare and contrast a number of polemic responses to the rise of the Front National under the party leader Marine Le Pen, and examine France's struggle towards a reappraisal of what it means to be French in the twenty-first century. My thesis seeks to make sense of some of the political dialogue that is currently taking place in France through analysing cultural representation of this phenomenon. It explores this representation in literature, film and bande-dessinée.
