Lauren Conboy is a PhD candidate and casual tutor at the University of South Australia. Her doctoral research focuses on co-designing a digital intervention to address body dissatisfaction in young adult women. Her broader work explores the impact of social media and dating apps, internalised beauty ideals, and attitudes towards cosmetic surgery.
Lauren has presented her work at leading conferences, including the Australasian Society for Behavioural Health and Medicine, Perspectives in Body Image: An International Online Conference, and the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders. Lauren often speaks on radio, television, and socials about body image and cosmetic procedures. Alongside her research, Lauren teaches undergraduate psychology courses and collaborates with honours and master's students.
Lauren is passionate about challenging the societal pressures that shape harmful beauty ideals by creating space for more inclusive and compassionate ways of relating to our bodies.
