Lachlan is a current PhD researcher (Marketing) at the University of Adelaide. His interests intersect at the fields of marketing, finance, and psychology.

His research on improving consumers' financial decision-making has been featured in such outlets as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Nine Network, The Australian, and The Guardian, and has also been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Retailing and European Journal of Marketing.

In 2020, Lachlan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), and completed his Honours Degree (First Class) in 2021, being awarded the 2021 University Award for outstanding academic performance.
