College of Engineering and Information Technology
Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.
Dr Le Yu is a Lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering at Adelaide University. Her research focuses on sustainability and circularity assessment of emerging technologies, alongside the design and fabrication of lightweight, lead-free two-dimensional (2D) composite materials for high-performance radiation shielding applications. During her PhD, she established a strong research foundation, including several significant first-author papers, contributing many co-authored papers, and one national patent.
Following her doctoral studies, Dr Yu undertook postdoctoral research at the ARC Graphene Hub (School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials) at the University of Adelaide, where she further developed expertise in 2D nanomaterials, polymers, and nanocomposites for advanced shielding technologies. She subsequently joined the HILT-CRC project at the University of Adelaide, expanding her research into sustainability assessment, with a focus on carbon utilisation pathways and recycling opportunities for Australian heavy industry from a regional hub perspective. She later contributed to the Plant for Space (P4S) initiative, leading sustainability and life-cycle assessment studies supporting emerging space-related technologies.
Since 2023, she has served as Lecturer and Course Coordinator for Food Engineering and Food Processing & Safety. Dr Yu continues to advance interdisciplinary research in sustainable materials design and fabrication, life-cycle assessment, and circular engineering solutions.
