Scholarly Teaching Fellow at The University of Adelaide.
Dr Kirsty Whitman is a Lecturer in Politics at Adelaide University. She has a PhD in Gender Studies and Social Analysis and Politics from The University of Adelaide. Her research interests include the rise of the far-right, critical theory, critical pedagogy, social inclusion, equity in education, gender and social class, intersectionality theory, popular culture (specifically 'nerd' culture), and Australian politics. She has published her research findings with several leading publishers, and has worked with local and state government.
Kirsty is currently working on several projects including the intersection of class and gender in the rise of the far-right in Australian politics and inclusive teaching practices. She has previously worked on a projects including community engagement and social inclusion at The City of Playford in partnership with the South Australian Department of Education, and a competitive grant project for the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education looking at the experience of low-SES students.
