I am a dentist and PhD candidate in Dental Public Health at the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH), School of Dentistry, Adelaide University. My doctoral research focuses on the use and acceptability of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) for managing dental caries among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
My broader research interests include child and population oral health, oral health inequalities, patient and caregiver experiences, oral health policy, digital health, teledentistry and evidence-based dentistry. I have experience in clinical and community-based research, systematic and scoping reviews, and qualitative and mixed-methods research. I also contribute to scholarly publishing as a peer reviewer for academic journals in dentistry and oral health.
My PhD research examines the use of topical silver fluoride treatments, including silver diamine fluoride (SDF) and silver fluoride (AgF), to manage dental caries among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. My research explores how these minimally invasive treatments are used in clinical practice, how acceptable they are to parents and caregivers, and whether treatment outcomes vary according to child, tooth and lesion characteristics. Drawing on international evidence and data from an Australian multisite study conducted in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, my work aims to support accessible, culturally appropriate and evidence-based approaches to improving children’s oral health.
