I am an epidemiologist and health data scientist with a PhD from Western Sydney University, Australia. I am currently a Gunn Research Fellow in the Discipline of General Practice at Adelaide Medical School, Adelaide University. From 2022 to 2025, I worked as a Research Fellow in Epidemiology at the Rural Health Research Institute, Charles Sturt University, contributing to multiple large-scale population health projects, including analyses of linked administrative datasets such as PLIDA in collaboration with the ABS and the 45 and Up Study with the Sax Institute, as well as WHO STEPS survey data to investigate cardiometabolic outcomes and central obesity globally. Previously (2010–2018), I held academic positions as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor of public health in Ethiopia, teaching biostatistics, research methods, and health care management to undergraduate and postgraduate students. My expertise lies in designing epidemiological studies and analysing complex health datasets using advanced statistical and machine learning methods to generate actionable insights, with a research focus on understanding how modifiable risk factors influence population health, particularly in the context of chronic disease prevention and control.
