About me__________________________________________________________________________________Dr Kathryn Paige is an adjunct Associate Professor in educating for sustainability at UniSA Education Futures. She is a full member of the Research in Educational and Social Inclusion Concentration (RESI )and Pedagogies for Justice (PfJ). A/Prof Paige has expertise in pre-service science and mathematics education, transdisciplinary approaches, education for sustainability (EfS) and place-based education. As a leader in the teaching/research nexus she has been instrumental in developing and implementing transdisciplinary curriculum courses in science and mathematics, curriculum and specialisation courses in both undergraduate and master’s level. Dr Paige has successfully attracted a number of national competitive research grants for her work on national and international research projects. She has recently been an Investigator for the Catholic Education South Australia STEM Learning Initiative school-based projects and a Chief Investigator for the project Excellence and Equity in Higher Education for indigenous students in mathematics. Other significant projects she has led include the Redesigning Pedagogies in the North, Connecting students from a refugee background to the natural world; and the Distance Education Program in South Africa. Dr Paige has co-authored two books and written numerous book chapters and journal articles focusing on transdisciplinary approaches to science and mathematics curriculum. Her paper entitled The Colour is Velvet: A transdisciplinary approach to connecting students, from a refugee background, to the natural world was voted the most valuable paper in Teaching Science for 2017. A previous paper entitled Middle year students’ experiences in nature: A case study on nature play won the same award four years earlier. Dr Paige is a highly sought after supervisor for higher degree by research students. Since 2003 she has supervised five PhD candidates, four Master’s students and eight honours students. She has also examined over twenty theses. Dr Paige offers research consultancies and has been a panel member of the Australian Research Council for two decades, reviewing proposals for ARC, DP, Linkage, Indigenous Special and DECRA schemes.
