I began my veterinary career in India, working briefly in a mixed-species practice before developing a strong interest in Veterinary Public Health (VPH) and epidemiology. I worked with New Zealand’s red deer industry, investigating the magnitude and causes of abortion in farmed red deer. In 2017, I moved to Australia to work with the Southern Rock Lobster industry, focusing on identifying risk factors associated with sub-optimal post-harvest survival in holding facilities. I have also worked with the Tasmanian Atlantic Salmonid industry, investigating pilchard orthomyxovirus outbreaks in farmed Atlantic salmon. My current projects involve detection and investigation of antimicrobial resistance in companion and food production animals and the assessment of epidemiology and biocontrol potential of rabbit biocontrol rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus and myxomavirus. I currently teach Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology in both the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Veterinary Technology programs. My research interests include One Health, public health, food safety, infectious disease modelling, disease surveillance, diagnostic test evaluation, and risk analysis.
