Dr. Kaiyang (Colin) Sun is a Lecturer (Full time) and Researcher specializing in Management, International Business, and Entrepreneurship, with a robust academic and professional track record in interrelated fields. His research addresses critical issues in the international management and strategic orientation of family-owned enterprises, particularly emphasizing entrepreneurial orientation, corporate innovation, and sustainability within family SMEs.

Dr. Kaiyang (Colin) Sun is a lecturer and researcher in management and international business, with a robust academic and professional track record in these interrelated fields. His research addresses critical issues in the international management and strategic orientation of family-owned enterprises, particularly emphasizing entrepreneurial orientation, corporate innovation, and sustainability within family SMEs.

Dr. Sun earned his PhD from Monash Business School, where his doctoral thesis, "Familiness, Entrepreneurial Orientation, and Family SME Performance," made substantial contributions to understanding how familial resources and dynamics influence firm innovation and financial outcomes. His scholarly efforts have been recognized internationally, including receiving a Highly Commended Paper Award at the Asia Pacific Family Business Symposium in 2024.

Beyond academic inquiry, Dr. Sun actively engages with industry partners, having secured external funding through consultancy projects focused on enhancing the innovative capacities and governance structures of family businesses in China. His practical experience significantly informs his teaching philosophy and methodology, characterized by fostering critical thinking, intercultural communication skills, and strategic management competencies among undergraduate and postgraduate students.

In his role at University of Adelaide,  Department of Management, Dr. Sun has lectured extensively across subjects such as INTBUS 1000 (International business environment). His commitment to educational excellence has been consistently recognized through outstanding student evaluations and awards.

Looking forward, Dr. Sun's ongoing research will delve deeper into the interplay between family business dynamics, internationalization strategies, and corporate sustainability practices, aiming to contribute meaningful insights that drive both theoretical advancements and practical improvements in global family business management.
