Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
I am completing my PhD in medical psychology under the supervision of Professor Anna Chur-Hansen and Professor Gregory Crawford.
Given the rising burden of mood disorders and chronic diseases worldwide, I wished to further explore the mechanisms of depression in people with chronic illness. My research activities aim to assess the effectiveness of current pharmacological and psychological treatments for depression in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I have conducted two Cochrane systematic reviews and meta-analyses to help build the, currently, non-existent evidence base for management of depression in COPD.
Broadly, I am interested in health psychology, behavioural medicine, translational research, and the development of interventions that would help better manage and prevent depression in high risk populations.
It’s been really good to learn from and collaborate with some truly inspiring researchers in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences who are working hard to make a difference.
