I am a researcher with the Critical and Ethical Mental Health research group within the Robinson Research Institute. My research interests focus on the risks and benefits of prescribing psychotropic medications to children and adolescents, and the critical analysis of the evidence base supporting pharmacological and non-pharmacological mental health interventions. My primary interests are  psychiatric epidemiology, the quality use of medication, and research integrity.
I am currently involved with the "Not Broken" project that aims to raise concerns about overmedicalising human distress. The project focuses on alternative conceptualisations of mental illness which rely less on treatment with medications and more on addressing the social and environmental causes of distress, known as the Social Determinants of Health.
