My PhD dissertation compares Māori, Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander histories of citizenship education. This involves traditional notions of social membership and how these systems were affected by colonial modes of education. My prior history honours thesis researched how Māori language immersion schooling emerged from community initiatives.
My Māori iwi affiliations include: Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Maru, and Tainui.
