I am currently writing up my dissertation about a late medieval religious guild in the Welsh Marches, the Palmers' guild of Ludlow.
I have completed my PhD thesis about a late medieval religious guild in the Welsh Marches, the Palmers' guild of Ludlow.
The thesis investigated the relationship between the people of the Welsh Marches and an urban religious institution, the Palmers' Guild of Ludlow over a span of 150 years, from 1400 to 1550. It analysed the Palmers’ guild’s geopolitical influence and its role in the political economy of the Central and North Welsh Marches. It outlined how a religious guild drove Ludlow’s secular interests in its hinterland and in the Central and North Welsh Marches. It identified that geography was an important factor in the religious, economic, and political relationships in the late medieval Welsh Marches.
