Mr Joe Mandrell
Online Course Facilitator
Adelaide University Online and Learning Futures
Academic
I am a Lecturer in the School of Public Health and an Online Course Facilitator (OCF) at Adelaide University Online. In these roles, I lead the development and delivery of teaching for Adelaide University students. My teaching spans public health and psychology, with particular interests in:
- determinants of health perspectives on inequalities and inequities across population groups
- evaluation of public health programs and policy
- statistical literacy and the fundamentals of data analysis
In addition to teaching, I am a researcher and PhD candidate in the School of Psychology. Broadly speaking, my research explores how people experience and interpret power in everyday life.
My research examines how people interpret and navigate power in everyday life. I am particularly interested in how individuals experience being under power (whether in interpersonal, institutional, or political contexts) and how those experiences shape perceptions of legitimacy, (in)justice, compliance, and resistance.
To this end, I use a combination of experimental methods, quantitative and qualitative analyses. I also have a keen interest in psychometrics and the development of valid and reliable measurement tools.
