Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology
Dr Jo Russell-Clarke is Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Built Environment and a registered landscape architect of the AILA. Following study at RMIT University she worked initially in a small Melbourne practice on award-winning projects and subsequently for a multinational firm with a focus on landscape infrastructure and suburban subdivision. She writes for professional and academic journals contributing regularly to Landscape Architecture Australia and is editor-at-large of Foreground.
Jo has lectured and taught at RMIT and the University of Melbourne. Her appointment with the University of Adelaide followed earlier guest lectures and other involvement with landscape architecture in the city. Her PhD interrogated the utopianism of suburban design and contemporary landscape architectural endeavour using a variety of frameworks to suggest an ongoing value – if not an urgent corrective need – for utopian thought and desire.
