Dr Jessica Williamson is a postdoctoral researcher in the One-Carbon Metabolism in Pregnancy and Disease Laboratory at Adelaide University. Her work investigates the relationship between one-carbon metabolites and maternal, placental and fetal health, with a focus on excess folic acid intake and risk for adverse metabolic outcomes, including gestational diabetes. She has extensive experience in in vitro modelling of placental function, including cell lines, placental explant and organoid culture.
Jessica is a recent graduate of a Bachelor Health and Medical Science, and currently an Honours student in the Ovarian Cell Biology Group at the Robinson Research Institute. Under the supervision of Rebecca Robker and Darryl Russell, her project entails identifying the molecular mechanisms which underpin ovulation.
