Jessica Phillips

My current research focuses on paediatric chronic respiratory diseases such as cystic fibrosis and asthma. Based in the Respiratory department at the Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH) and partnering with the Cystic Fibrosis Airway Research Group (University of Adelaide), our current focus is on evaluating a new medical imaging technology x-ray velocimetry which uses x-ray imaging to construct a 4D image of the breath which can be analysed to determine lung function. This new technology may add to the suite of surveillance tools used in chronic lung disease but needs further investigation in children to determine reference ranges and clinical utility.

I am also involved in other investigator-led and pharmaceutical clinical trials in cystic fibrosis, asthma and other chronic lung conditions. I run the cystic fibrosis and non-CF bronchiectasis registries for the WCH as well as assisting with pharmaceutical trials of new medications for cystic fibrosis and asthma-affected children. 

I was awarded my PhD from the University of Adelaide in 2015 and I have worked across various clinical indications. I have experience in wet lab work, cell culture, small animal work, biobanks, clinical trials and qualitative research.
