The three studies that form the basis for my Doctoral thesis explore different aspects and applications of the concept of cultural safety, and its potential role in the improvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes. The first study explores problem representations within the Closing the Gap policy, and looks at ways that a cultural safety framework might be used to inform future policy development. My second study is a comprehensive literature review examining what 'successful' cultural safety training looks like, and my third study aims to explore the experiences of health practitioners who have undertaken cultural safety training and are now in the workforce.

I am currently the Topic Coordinator for the Indigenous Health for Health Sciences topic at Flinders University, which uses cultural safety as a framework for learning about Indigenous health and well-being.

Prior to this, I have taught as a casual tutor at both Flinders University (Indigenous Health for Health Sciences 2016, and Indigenous Health for Nurses 2014), and at the University of Adelaide (Psychology in Society 2016). I have also been invited to present guest lectures to the Masters of Public Health students (Flinders University) for the past few years, discussing my research on the Closing the Gap policy.
