I am an applied economist with a focus on agricultural and resources and related policy implications. My PhD thesis explores the drivers influencing dietary diversity, diet quality and overall food security of households and individuals in emerging Asia such as urban Vietnam and rural Bangladesh. I have used different quantitative analyses and approaches for urban compared to rural households. Analysis of primary data from the Vietnam Urban Food Consumption and Expenditure Study 2016-2017 9 (an ACIAR project), suggests that policy makers need to be aware of the impact of increasingly ‘obesogenic food environments’ on consumers’ diet quality. Analysis of secondary data from the Bangladesh Integrated Household Survey 2012, highlights the need to consider the unique needs of farming households when designing food security interventions to address shocks among rural populations.I have a keen interest to learn and improve my depth of knowledge on the economics of food security and nutrition. In 2019, I have completed my PhD and have been awarded the Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Excellence.
