Dr Jennifer Bourne

Visiting Research Fellow

School of Physical Sciences

Faculty of Sciences

Teaching has informed and enlivened my interest in geomorphology but it is field work that has not only challenged but driven my studies of landforms and landscapes. Not only the massive forms but even the minor features developed on granite and related rock types fascinate me. Palaeosurfaces and stark rocky landscapes, particularly in arid and semi-arid areas of the Australian continent, together with the dune systems both old and recent have resulted in collaborative work with various colleagues and students. However, my association with Dr Rowl Twidale, as teacher, mentor, colleague and friend for over 40 years, has been and continues to be invaluable, not to mention fun.
Other interests and enthusiasms include orienteering, rogaining, gardening, bird-keeping, various clubs joined by me at various times like old scholars, contract bridge, and field geologists, and of course, family.
