Dr Jane Cowie is a lecturer in the Bachelor of Social Work Program at the University of South Australia. She has held multiple positions in a range of roles and courses at the university since 2006. Until 2014, Jane worked primarily as a social work practitioner. Jane has worked in a number of fields including domestic violence; youth homelessness; general counselling and school counselling. Jane's research interests are in the field of youth transitions and aspirations, particularly for young people from regional and remote areas. Her PhD thesis explored the aspirations, plans, expectations and experiences of youth from regional and remote areas during the transition from school. Jane is also passionate about the scholarship of learning, with her most recent publication focussed on the role of emotion in practice-based learning and teaching practice-based skills in online environments.
